HOW TO GIVE A SUCCESSFUL ORAL PRESENTATION (in short)

1) Begin with a greeting well before starting your presentation.

For example: 'Good morning, everyone on the panel. I'm here to discuss the following topic ... / I will be addressing ... / I must admit I'm delighted but also a little nervous, to be here with you. May I begin?'

2) Look your audience directly in the eyes while speaking. This will capture their attention and encourage them to listen attentively.

3) Use intonation to energize your presentation. This will make your message more engaging and impactful.

4) Outline the different parts of your presentation in advance by stating them aloud for your audience to know where you are taking them to.

5) Ensure smooth transitions between the different parts of your presentation to maintain the coherence of your message.

6) Develop a general outline of your presentation before structuring it into an introduction, body, and conclusion. Demonstrate your English proficiency without going into overly technical details, as we, the jury members, are not expecting complex speeches. Simply impress us with your fluency.

7) Overcome your nerves by sharing the main ideas of your presentation to demonstrate your English level.

8) Fill silences with phrases such as 'you know', 'let me think', 'how do I say this?'

Failing to do so could give the jury the impression that you are hesitating.
